23 Nov Marine Protected Areas and Local Community Benefits
CTC hosted guests from Malaysia’s Johor Biotechnology and Biodiversity Corporation on November 21-23, 2016 who were in Bali to learn about marine conservation and its economic benefits to the community and government. The guests visited CTC’s office in Sanur and the Nusa Penida Marine Protected Area (MPA) where they went snorkeling in healthy reefs, transplanted baby corals. and went on a community-managed mangrove tour. They met officers from the Nusa Penida MPA Management Unit as well community members living in the protected area to learn about the economic benefits which can flow from an MPA. to the local people community as well the government.
