From National level government agencies responsible for policy and regulatory developments, through to on-ground local government offices responsible for the day to day oversight of key areas of critical marine importance – the governments of the Coral Triangle are at the heart of the regions efforts to be sustainable into the future.
This learning network connects local on-ground government agencies and departments across the region, to share lessons learned, exchange ideas and foster inter-governmental understanding. These local government representatives are the champions who are day to day implementing the goals of the Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs Fisheries and Food Security (CTI-CFF).
In 2015 the success of the LGN network led to a call for expansion of membership to include more local government institutions across the region, and the network is currently in the process of undertaking this expansion.
