09 Apr CTC Hosts Bali Ocean Days Podcast
On March 24, CTC hosted the first recording session of the Bali Ocean Days Podcast Series at its CTC Center for Marine Conservation in Sanur, Bali. Featuring esteemed ocean advocates from Bali, the podcast shines the spotlight on inspiring actions to address the growing threats to our seas.Â
The Bali Ocean Days Podcast is a series of nine video podcast episodes with the goal to spread the message of ocean conservation and sustainability to a wider audience in Indonesia. It is organized by Darmawan & Associates and CTC, as a follow-up activity of the Bali Ocean Days conference which is an annual event that promotes environmental sustainability in Indonesia and beyond. The video podcast episodes first season will be published from April to December 2024 via the CTC YouTube Channel and Bali Ocean Days YouTube Channel and promoted in both parties’ social media channels.
The first episode of the podcast will feature Green School students who are leading projects that aim to spread awareness about marine conservation and ocean issues under its Student Ocean Ambassadors Program and World Ocean Ambassador’s Hang Out Project. The second episode will feature “Plastic Angels”, a collaborative art project involving talented artists from Indonesia and around the world that use mediums like illustration, painting, sculpture, and more to create artworks using plastic collected from Bali’s landfill and Bali’s beaches and rivers. The artworks are then used to raise funds for education and health programs for children and communities living near the landfill. The third episode will feature the Grand Blue Project, an extraordinarily comprehensive video library of Indonesia’s marine biodiversity with more than 60,000 unique video clips of Indonesia’s marine animals. It documents more than 1000 species ranging from the smallest pigmy seahorses to the largest whales. It is an important resource for marine biologists and students and an inspiring library for nature lovers.
The Bali Ocean Days Podcast aims to raise awareness about Bali’s hidden poverty and plastic pollution issues. Many Bali Ocean Days, created by Sky Blue Sea Foundation and organized by Darmawan & Associates, is an annual marine conservation event that promotes environmental sustainability in Indonesia and beyond. It has been developed in partnership with the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs and the Archipelagic and Island States (AIS) Forum. As part of its commitment and strategy, CTC is fully committed to actively participate in Bali Ocean Days’ operations to promote the development of a sustainable Blue Economy in Indonesia and beyond.
