29 Mar Celebrating Women’s History Month with Women Leaders behind the “Coral Universe”

On Monday, March 29 we collaborated with Jenggala Keramik in hosting an event to celebrate Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day that featured a sharing session about the women leaders behind the Coral Universe.

This ‘I Love Monday’ event, hosted by our Events and Outreach Manager Elizabeth Prawitasari and broadcasted live on our Facebook page, is part of CTC’s engagement and collaboration with the private sector to spread information on how Coral Universe artwork at CTC’s Center for Marine Conservation in Bali can spread values of preserving the ocean and the big power of collaboration to challenge the status quo.

The event featured CTC Executive Director Rili Djohani who told us the reason behind the development of Coral Universe. Following Rili Djohani’s story, ocean artist Courtney Mattison shared about the designing process and the importance of involving community in the Coral Universe building process, and Ade Waworuntu of Jenggala Keramik shared the personal story that encouraged her to join the project of making Coral Universe.

Moreover, all three speakers acknowledged their love for the oceans and hope all of us can use this year’s Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day celebration as a call to all women to empower each other, pursue their dreams, and start making a positive impact for the ocean.
