01 Nov Giving Tuesday Campaign to Raise Funds for Community Coral Art Education Project
This November, Coral Triangle Center will take part in the Give2Asia campaign building up towards #givingtuesday on November 28th! We will be raising funds to complete our Community Coral Art Education project which aims to spread awareness and education about the importance of coral reefs and marine conservation in Indonesia and across the Coral Triangle region!
Giving Tuesday, is a movement to create an international day of giving at the beginning of the Christmas and holiday season. It’s always the Tuesday after the US Thanksgiving Day and It was designated as a global day of giving to change the pace from the widely-recognized days of sales prior to Christmas, and to mark the beginning of the most charitable season of the year.
Give2Asia is an organization that makes it possible to support local organizations in Asia by addressing critical issues such as healthcare, education, livelihood, and the environment. Every year they run a #givingtuesday campaign in which CTC has joined. We are running an online fundraising campaign to raise $5000 by November 28th, 2017 on Giving Tuesday. This will go towards completing our Community Coral Art Education project. A project blending science, art and education!
We have been working hard with over 200 volunteers of all ages to create a 25m ceramic coral exhibit with 3,000 pieces of ceramic corals! This inspirational and thought provoking installation will be located at our Center for Marine Conservation in Sanur, Bali! It will serve as focal point for marine conservation education programs that aims to reach thousands of school children and adults every year.
By supporting this project, you will be investing in empowering people with the knowledge to act as coral reef guardians! Please follow us on facebook (inset link) and instagram (insert link) to follow our campaign as we take you on a journey of the Community Coral Art Education project from creating the pieces, collaboration and threats and importance of our coral reefs in the Coral Triangle.
You will be hearing from us later this month about our progress. We hope that you will jump on board and share, tag or email the campaign to friends and support our mission to inspire and train generations to care for coastal and marine ecosystems and ultimately safeguard our marine and coastal environments in the Coral Triangle for many generations to come!
