03 Jun CTC Co-Organizes Roundtable Side-Event at the UN Oceans Conference in New York

CTC, in collaboration with the Solomon Islands Government, Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries and Food Security (CTI-CFF) Regional Secretariat and WWF, organized side event at the UN Oceans Conference in New York on June 6, 2017.

The event, moderated by CTC Executive Director Rili Djohani, was a major success in raising awareness, recognition and contribution of CTI-CFF at the UN Conference as well as participants from all over the world working hand-in-hand to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goal 14 “to conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development”.

 

 

 

 

The side event’s speakers included Honourable Milner Tozaka, Solomon Islands’ Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade; Dr. Suseno Sukoyono, Special Advisor to the Indonesian Minister for Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Gina Green, Senior Associate Project Manager, ECOFISH Program; Luigi Cabrini, Chair, Global Sustainable Tourism Council; Rindah Melsen, President, Nusatuva Women’s Savings Club, Solomon Islands, and Paul Holthus, CEO, World Ocean Council

CTC also announced its commitment to support SDG 14 through the development of the CTC Center for Marine Conservation.
