15 Jan Inspiring Young Ocean Keepers through Turtle and Plastic Awareness
In December 2025, CTC Ocean Keeper Club (OKC) continued its commitment to marine education through two engaging learning sessions that inspired students to become future Ocean Keepers.
On December 17, 2025, we conducted the OKC Goes to School program at SDN 8 Sanur, attended by 181 students from Grades 1 to 6, accompanied by its teachers. This marked OKC’s second visit to the school, following an introductory session on marine ecosystems in June 2025. During this visit, the team delivered a session titled “Awas Ada Sampah Plastik!”.
During the session, students learned about the history of plastic, its benefits, and the harmful impacts of plastic waste on the ocean. Participants also took part in an interactive waste-sorting game, where they categorized organic waste, non-organic waste, and microplastics. This activity aimed to build awareness and encourage smart, responsible waste-sorting habits. Through this session, students were encouraged to become Ocean Keepers who can share their knowledge and take real action to prevent plastic waste from reaching the ocean.
Following the school visit, on December 20, 2025, the OKC team conducted the sixth-regular-session Ocean Keeper Club, titled “Perjalanan si Penyu.” The session was attended by 61 students from six partner schools, accompanied by seven teachers.
This session focused on the life cycle of sea turtles, covering stages from hatching to adulthood and highlighting their ecological importance. Using interactive storytelling and engaging visual materials, the session was delivered by OKC mascots Max, Mindy, and Octa, who presented key facts and encouraged active participation. Students responded enthusiastically, demonstrating strong engagement through questions, discussions, and interactive activities. As a result, participants gained a deeper understanding of sea turtle conservation and were motivated to help protect marine life as Ocean Keepers
Through these activities, CTC addressed both plastic pollution and marine biodiversity conservation, strengthening students’ understanding and inspiring them to take action in protecting the ocean as Ocean Keepers.
