The Bali Ocean Days podcast series is developed in partnership with the Coral Triangle Center so today, we are very pleased to dedicate this 5th episode to our associated organization.

Rili Djohani, co-founder and executive director of the Bali-based Coral Triangle Center has worked for more than 30 years in the service of marine conservation.

She established the CTC in 2010 and has developed it as a learning center of excellence on coastal and marine resources management. Over the years, CTC has actively contributed to the establishment and monitoring of MPAs in Indonesia, with the aim of preventing illegal fishing and destructive activities in marine environments set aside for conservation purposes.

Today, CTC focuses on strengthening local leadership and capacity through an integrated portfolio of MPAs learning sites, customized training programs, learning networks, innovative outreach and facilitation of public-private partnerships in the Coral Triangle Region.

Happy #MPADay! 🌿🌳🌱

Yesterday, August 1, we appreciated the value of MPAs and how they benefit both us and the incredible marine biodiversity they are designed to protect. To celebrate #MPADay, CTC in collaboration with Intrepid Foundation held fun learning activities through the Ocean Keeper Club outreach program in Nusa Penida Marine Protected Area (MPA) with 50 students from two local schools on Nusa Lembongan Island.

Together with Max, Mindy, and Octa, the students participated in an interactive game about the importance of mangroves and had the chance to plant 60 baby mangroves.

Additionally, this event served as the soft launch for CTC's new program, Adopt-a-Mangrove. We hope that these programs can support marine conservation efforts and help restore mangroves in Nusa Penida MPA.

Selamat #MPADay! 🌿🌳🌱

Kemarin, 1 Agustus, kita merayakan nilai dari Kawasan Konservasi dan bagaimana mereka memberi manfaat bagi kita dan keanekaragaman hayati laut yang luar biasa yang mereka rancang untuk dilindungi. Untuk merayakan #MPADay, CTC bekerja sama dengan Intrepid Foundation mengadakan kegiatan belajar yang menyenangkan melalui program Ocean Keeper Club di Kawasan Konservasi (KK) Nusa Penida bersama 50 siswa dari dua sekolah lokal di Pulau Nusa Lembongan.

Bersama Max, Mindy, dan Octa, para siswa berpartisipasi dalam permainan interaktif tentang pentingnya mangrove dan berkesempatan untuk menanam 60 bibit mangrove.

Selain itu, acara ini juga merupakan soft launching untuk program baru CTC, Adopt-a-Mangrove. Kami berharap program ini dapat mendukung upaya konservasi laut dan membantu merestorasi mangrove di KK Nusa Penida.
