17 Apr CTC Shares Local Climate Solutions at Skoll World Forum 2025
Coral Triangle Center (CTC) proudly joined the annual Skoll World Forum 2025 in Oxford, United Kingdom, as part of a compelling session titled “Overlooked Frontiers: Climate Innovations from Indonesia, Malawi, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines” at the Forum’s associated Ecosystem Events. Held on April 3, 2025, the event brought together global changemakers around the theme “Together We Can Mend What is Broken.” It tackled urgent global issues and highlighted innovative, systemic solutions.
Organized by Myriad USA, the session was hosted by Ly Tran, Myriad’s Director for Asia Pacific, and Monica Carrillo Zegarra, Director for Latin America and the Caribbean. It brought together social innovators from diverse geographies who are driving meaningful change in their communities against the backdrop of escalating climate challenges.
CTC’s Executive Director, Rili Djohani was one of three featured panelists alongside Muthi Nhlema of BaseFlow Malawi and Vanburn Harry of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Conservation Fund. Rili highlighted CTC’s work in Indonesia and Timor-Leste, focusing on marine conservation, sustainable fisheries, community empowerment, and the integration of traditional marine resource management practices such as Sasi and Tara Bandu. She also emphasized the importance of highlighting local knowledge and leadership in designing effective climate adaptation strategies.
“This forum is an unique setup that maximizes sharing and learning in an informal and interactive way,” said Ms Djohani. “It was an honor to share our story and connect with social innovators working on urgent climate solutions across the globe. Our oceans unite us all—and the work we do in the Coral Triangle is deeply relevant to the global fight for climate and food security.”

The session addressed the local-global dynamics of climate change, called for a shift in investor and donor mindsets, and emphasized the need to amplify marginalized voices in global forums. Besides unlocking more partnerships and funding opportunities for CTC, there was also a lot of knowledge sharing on Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion in theory and practice. More than 400 workshops were conducted in and near beautiful old and modern buildings throughout the city.
CTC remains committed to advancing climate resilience through local expertise, global collaboration, and, be community-led—demonstrating that impactful solutions often come from the frontlines.
