17 Apr Community Gathering in Marine Bali Safari

On March 14, 2025, a community gathering and Talk Show was held at Marine Bali Safari with the theme “Exploring Coral Reefs: Dive into the Colorful World of Coral Reefs!”. The event was attended by approximately 50 participants from diverse backgrounds, all eager to learn about underwater life, coral reefs, and efforts to protect them. The Talk Show featured several distinguished speakers, including: Herni Frilia Hastutie, Coral Triangle Center (CTC’s) Education and Outreach Coordinator, Pariama Hutasoit, Chairwoman of Bali Blue Harmony, Ryannyka Dwi Astuti, Research and Education Manager at the Indonesian Nature Foundation (LINI), Samuel Liu, Operations Manager, as well as Kenneth Kwang, Curatorial Manager at Marine Safari Bali.

In the opening session, CTC presented a short video titled “Cora the Coral”, which effectively highlights CTC’s mission and efforts in protecting the Coral Triangle region. We also discussed the Coral Triangle area and the biodiversity of the six countries involved. CTC shared several key initiatives aimed at protecting the Coral Triangle, including the establishment of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), coral reef restoration through the Adopt A Coral Program, mangrove forest restoration through the Adopt A Mangrove Program, and active community involvement in these efforts. The Talk Show also provided an opportunity for CTC to promote CTC Center for Marine Conservation, which serves as a valuable learning space.

One of the most engaging topics during the Talk Show was coral reef restoration. Participants showed great curiosity about the coral restoration process and the monitoring efforts. This growing interest is expected to inspire younger generations to continue learning and working towards coral reef conservation. This Talk Show also reinforced the importance of maintaining strong partnerships between organizations and CTC, as we continue our shared mission to protect our oceans.
