20 Mar CTC Strengthens Competency Assessment Standards Through Assessor Recertification
The pursuit of excellence in marine and fisheries competency assessments took center stage as two of Coral Triangle Center (CTC) competency assessors, Silvianita Timotius and Denny Boy Mochran, successfully renewed their certifications during the Pelatihan Peningkatan Kompetensi dan Sertifikasi Ulang Asesor Kompetensi (Recognition of Current Competency – RCC Asesor Kompetensi). This crucial training, held on February 19–20, 2025, at P2MKP Karya Lestari, Tabanan, Bali, was organized by Lembaga Sertifikasi Profesi (LSP) Kelautan dan Perikanan in collaboration with Badan Nasional Sertifikasi Profesi (BNSP).
With the rapidly evolving landscape of professional competency certification, this recertification process was designed to ensure that assessors uphold the highest standards in competency-based assessments. The introduction of the 2023 assessment framework required assessors to stay up to date with the latest methodologies to maintain the credibility of national certification processes.
The program, led by Master Assessors Kadek Wira Adi Saputra and Freddy Franciscus Pantouw, provided an intensive learning experience focused on enhancing skills in assessment planning, including developing and validating assessment materials and instruments. Through interactive discussions, rigorous evaluation, and hands-on simulations, participants sharpened their ability to conduct fair and precise assessments.
For the two CTC representatives, it was a deep dive into refining their expertise in competency assessment. Denny Boy Mochran, known better as Boy, shared how the training deepened his understanding of competency-based assessments and provided him with valuable insights into the latest standards. “The simulation exercises were incredibly beneficial. They provided hands-on experience and real-time feedback from the Master Assessors, which helped refine our techniques and improve the way we conduct evaluations,” he said.Â
Silvianita echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of recertification in ensuring the availability of assessors for CTC Assessment Center (TUK) and supporting LSP Konservasi dan Jasa Kelautan (KJK)Â in developing competency test materials for new assessment schemes. “This recertification was not just about renewing a certificate but about maintaining the highest standards in competency assessment. It also reinforces our role in expanding and improving the evaluation framework to meet evolving industry needs,” she explained.
