20 Mar CTC Headlines Bali Ocean Days 2025
CTC was honored to participate in the 2nd annual Bali Ocean Days Conference, held on February 7–8, 2025, at the InterContinental Bali Resort in Jimbaran. Now on its second year, this annual event serves as a vital platform for fostering collaboration across diverse sectors to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) #14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas, and marine resources.
Under the theme “Uniting for Ocean Conservation”, Bali Ocean Days brings together public officials, financial institutions, sustainable economy stakeholders, conservation non-governmental organizations, and academics to elevate marine conservation as a global priority. With the aim of raising awareness about the critical role of marine ecosystems, the event, which was organized by the Sky Blue Sea Foundation and Darmawan Associates, featured a conference and an eco-trade showcase, encouraging consumers to prioritize sustainable products and services while fostering long-term, cross-sector collaborations.
CTC Executive Director, Rili Djohani, was a featured plenary speaker in the opening session on Marine Conservation Strategies and Public Policies. She shared insights on marine conservation strategies at the regional, national and local level alongside representatives from the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas), WWF Indonesia, ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity, and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Protected and Conserved Areas. In her talk, she emphasized the transformative power of “Blended Education”, an innovative approach that merges traditional conservation methods with art, science, technology, culture, and gamification to drive impactful marine protection efforts.
With over 300 participants representing NGOs, government agencies, private sector, and the military, the conference provided a key opportunity for CTC to reconnect with partners such as OceanX, Green Fins, the Indonesian Tuna Consortium, and Perempuan Laut. In addition to Djohani’s keynote, CTC team members Leilani Gallardo and Kayla Azzahra actively engaged in discussions, expanding CTC’s network and forging new collaborations for communication and social media initiatives.
CTC has been an active participant in Bali Ocean Days since its inception, joining both the 2024 and 2025 editions. Furthering its support, CTC also collaborated with Darmawan Associates throughout the year to promote the event via the Bali Ocean Days Podcast, amplifying key conservation messages and engaging broader audiences.
CTC remains committed to advancing marine conservation efforts through partnerships, education, and advocacy, ensuring a sustainable future for our blue planet.
