23 Dec CTC Hosts Pew Marine Conservation Fellows Annual Meeting
CTC was honored to host the prestigious Pew Fellows Program in Marine Conservation 2024 in Bali, bringing together over 100 distinguished scientists, conservation leaders, and marine experts from around the world. This event served as a platform for collaboration, sharing knowledge, and sparking meaningful discussions on the future of marine conservation.
The event kicked off with an introduction to Tri Hita Karana, a philosophy that promotes harmony between people, nature, and the divine. This cultural framework was explored in the context of the Nusa Penida Marine Protected Area (MPA) and showcased how traditional wisdom can be integrated into modern conservation efforts to protect marine ecosystems.
One of the key highlights of the program was a roundtable discussion on advancing human rights-based approaches to ocean conservation. Thought-provoking conversations focused on how conservation practices can respect and uphold the rights of local communities while preserving vital marine ecosystems. This session fostered a deeper understanding of the connection between people and the ocean, reinforcing the importance of inclusive and equitable conservation strategies.
The evening featured a lively tour of CTC’s immersive exhibition, where participants explored Indonesia’s efforts in marine conservation and sustainable practices. Guests enjoyed a delightful dinner accompanied by live jazz music, followed by a mesmerizing Wayang Samudra performance—an artistic tribute to ocean conservation that seamlessly blends culture with environmental advocacy.
CTC extends its deepest gratitude to all the participants who joined us for this important conversation and celebration of marine conservation. Together, we are making strides toward a more sustainable future, ensuring that our oceans remain vibrant and resilient for generations to come.
