30 Aug CTC Staff Development Week 2024 Focuses on Building Organizational Resilience
On July 15 – 17, 2024, CTC held a Staff Development Week themed “Innovation and Leadership: Imagine the Future and Paving the Way for Organization Resilience” at Center for Marine Conservation in Sanur and Jenggala Ceramic in Jimbaran. This event was attended by all the CTC staff, including staff from Bali, Jakarta, Maluku and Timor-Leste.
The activities were designed to foster strong teamwork, stimulate innovation and strengthen organizational resilience. Aligned with organizational growth, it is important for our organization to identify common values and strengthen CTC’s organizational culture towards an effective, inclusive and sustainable learning center of excellence. Moving forward, the alignment and integration of all programs will be pivotal, guided by our Gender, Equity and Social Inclusion (GESI) and Knowledge Management (KM) strategies, and the latest science. Furthermore, this is an opportunity to discuss organizational priorities in preparation of our 4th Strategic Plan for the period of 2025-2029.
Opened by CTC Board of Trustee Chairperson, Yuli Ismartono, the event started with leadership and public speaking training. The training aimed to stimulate participants in sharing their experiences, identifying shared common values as a driver for embracing innovative and proactive sharing. This interactive training enriched staff’s learning experience through a combination of presentations, games and group activities. It was led by Dicky Lopulalan. Dicky has more than 20 years’ experience in facilitating training and community-based activities in health, education and the environment.
“Overall, the leadership session was very interesting and enjoyable to participate in. The content was good, the speakers were great and the games were well-related to leadership. I want to highlight the LEGO game. Usually, I get bored during games, but this time I followed the instructions with enthusiasm,“ said Oka Putri, CTC Finance and Administration Staff.
Day 2, July 16, the scheduled topic was communication and branding of CTC. The session was led by CTC Board of Trustees’ Chairperson, Yuli Ismartono. She shared her experience working in several national and international media companies. The session was continued by Leilani Gallardo, CTC Regional Communication Coordinator, who spoke about CTC branding, followed by the Knowledge Management team and Human Resources team who presented their latest program update.
The last day, Juli 17, started with a Gender Equity and Social Inclusion (GESI) workshop by CTC Senior Consultant, Dr. Ria Fitriana. This session aimed to inspire staff to adapt gender perspectives to the conservation perspective. Dr. Ria provided an overview of gender and social inclusion and its adaptation to the MPAs or to CTC’s other relevant projects. The three-day meeting was wrapped up by a pottery class in Jenggala Studio in Jimbaran. CTC’s staff had the opportunity to do a house tour regarding the process of Jenggala’s ceramic and painted ceramic pots and plates. Hana Wanda, CTC Training Administration Officer, expressed her excitement because she could gain new knowledge about ceramics making and also express her own creativity during the painting activity.
In the implementation of the 4th Strategic Plan for 2025-2029, it is crucial for CTC to prioritize innovation, teamwork and the integration of CTC’s core values, thereby solidifying its position as a leading learning center of excellence. The success of the organization will hinge on its ability to synergize these efforts across all levels, ensuring that each program contributes to CTC’s collective mission.
