07 Dec CTC Hosts University of Queensland’s Coral Restoration Workshop and Learning Visit in Nusa Penida MPA

On November 19th, 2023, the CTC team traveled to Nusa Lembongan for a full day Fun Learning Trip with the University of Queensland and Blue Corner. There were 29 participants, experts in rubble stabilization, invited by the University of Queensland to their workshop. The participants learned about the Nusa Penida Marine Protected Area and different methods of coral restoration.

CTC, University of Queensland, and Blue Corner completed two dives, one at Sental and one at SD dive spot in the north side of Nusa Penida.

Participants acquired basic information through discussions about the Nusa Penida MPA, seaweed farming, and coral rehabilitation as part of the conservation program in the MPA. On Nusa Lembongan island, participants actively engaged in coral rehabilitation through the coral planting program. Additionally, participants had the opportunity to interact with local communities who assist the government in protecting the mangrove center area at Nusa Lembongan.
