25 Mar Multimedia Exhibition “I Love Banda” Opens in Erasmus Huis Jakarta

CTC Executive Director, Rili Djohani recently attended the opening of a new multimedia exhibition featuring communities in the Banda Islands and their ties to the ocean. The exhibition is currently held at the Erasmus Huis at the Netherlands Embassy Jakarta.

The exhibition which is entitled “I Love Banda” turns the spotlight onto six young Banda islanders with whom documentary photographer Isabelle Boon formed a close friendship. We see the Banda Islands as they are today through the reality, dreams and aspirations of Mega Vani, Karis, Ulfa, Ode, Nabila and Nyellow.

Ms Boon mentioned that “I love Banda” started in 2015 when she met Rili, co-founder and executive director at the Coral Triangle Center in Bali. CTC supports coral reef conservation programs in collaboration with the local communities in the Banda archipelago. Rili’s enthusiasm was the tipping point and not much later she was taking her first photos of the main characters in the photography book: “I love Banda”.

The exhibition can be viewed from 25 March 2022 – 17 June 2022 at the Erasmus Huis at the Netherlands Embassy Jakarta.
