The first-ever global, high-resolution map of the world’s shallow tropical coral reefs has been completed and is now available as part of the Allen Coral Atlas. The map covers 253,000 square kilometers of shallow coral reefs and captures details such as benthic components and seascape structures of the ocean floor. The maps can also identify threats such as pollution, runoff and impacts of destructive events such as cyclones or ship groundings.
