Did you know? On August 9, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released its latest report outlining the serious impacts of climate change that are already happening across the planet. The latest report serves as a reality check as it projects that in the coming decades, weather and environmental conditions will change in all regions of the world. With 1.5°C of global warming, there will be an increase in heat waves, longer warm seasons, and shorter cold seasons. In addition to temperature, the report notes that climate change will bring continued sea-level rise and flooding in low-lying coastal areas. Ocean ecosystems will also experience more acidification and reduced oxygen levels throughout at least the rest of this century.
