CTC’s Coral Dive School is one of the activities under the program of the Center for Marine Conservation. There are a lot of activities that encourage people to discover and learn about the rich marine biodiversity in the Coral Triangle such as BASIC SNORKELING, TRY SCUBA, MARINE ECOLOGY SPECIALTY, BASIC UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAPHY, SCUBA SKILLS UPDATED COURSE and MASTER SCUBA DIVE

Early in May 2021, we finally opened the first batch of marine ecology specialty courses with 20 participants from academia, the diving community and CTC’s staff.  The marine ecology specialty course is provided in collaboration with SSI International and aims to provide information to the general public about the exciting science of marine ecology so they can become underwater naturalists in no time. The course includes self-paced study on the SSI website, a lecture and a final examination.

This course featured CTC’s Marine Conservation Advisor Marthen Welly as the instructor, who gave the lecture on Tuesday, May 11, 2021.  The participants conducted the final examination right after the 2-hour lecture on the same day to get the certification under SSI International. The results revealed that all the participants were really engaged with the course and passed the examination.

Moreover, CTC’s Executive Director Rili Djohani, who was also a participant of the course, appreciated the comprehensive materials that were covered by the course. She also acknowledged the spirit of the participants to finish the course. She hoped that more people would join the course in the future and to be inspired to protect the oceans.
