Did you know? On April 22, we joined the world in celebrating Earth Day with this year’s theme “Restore Our Earth.” Earth Day is an annual event that aims to demonstrate and inspire action for environmental protection. First held on April 22, 1970, it includes a wide range of events and activities held globally in more than 193 countries. This year’s Earth Day theme shines the spotlight on emerging green technologies and innovative ideas that can restore the world’s ecosystems. The theme also highlights individual action to “Restore Our Earth”, not just because we care about the natural world, but because we live on it and we all need a healthy Earth to support our jobs, livelihoods, health, survival, and happiness. By celebrating Earth Day, we reaffirm that a healthy planet is not an option — it is a necessity.
