30 Aug Supporting Sustainable Blue Swimming Crab Fisheries in Lampung

To support the implementation of effective fisheries management in Indonesia, CTC is carrying out a series of training sessions as part of capacity building in relation to strengthening the provincial fisheries management agency, the Blue Swimming Crab Sustainable Fisheries Management Committee (KPPRB).

The training session was carried out from 26-30 August, at the Emersia Hotel, Bandar Lampung. Twenty-two participants from the secretariat and several KPPRB working groups attended. Participants learned how to implement effective management techniques, and to improve communication within KPPRB and with external stakeholders. These skills are crucial for the KPPRB members as the committee is diverse, with individuals from different occupational backgrounds and education levels. CTC delivered a dynamic training session by combining theoretical concepts with practical application to keep the group motivated and engaged.

The trainer’s ability to facilitate an inclusive learning experience was noted by participants as critical to their learning. Providing a balance between theoretical concepts and practical application during the sessions allowed all participants to engage in a dynamic learning environment, and allowed easy understanding of concepts for participants who did not have experience in a formal training session.
