18 Aug CTC Joins Menghadap Laut 2.0 to Commemorate Indonesian Independence Day

This year Menghadap Laut returned to commemorate Indonesian Independence Day! This national event was initiated by the Ministry of Marine Affair and Fisheries. This year it was conducted simultaneously in 74 places across Indonesia, celebrating the 74 years since independence.

In Bali, Menghadap Laut 2.0 was celebrated at Mertasari Beach, Sanur on August 18, with over 950 participants from various organizations, community groups and schools. The crowd was also joined by Indonesian TV star Ananda Omesh. The event started with a huge beach clean up where 214 kg of non-organic trash were collected.

The school students were also delighted by a cultural performance, Kecak Samudra. Led by CTC and local artist Komang Suardana, the students were excitedly dancing and singing along. The event was closed by singing the national songs of Indonesia, “Indonesia Raya” and “Bagimu Negeri”. Led by the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Susi Pudjiastuti, all the participants of Menghadap Laut 2.0 in each of the 74 locations across Indonesia faced the ocean and sang together.
