17 May Combining Marine Education with Delightful Music

Located in the heart of Bali, CTC Center for Marine Conservation is the perfect place for the community to come together. On May 24, 2019, CTC successfully conducted a public event – “Choir for Coral” at CTC Center for Marine Conservation that combined fun marine education activities with delightful music to engage more people to care about coral reefs and the oceans. The evening featured the Bali Community Choir, who performs regularly at venues and events across Bali.  It is composed of both Indonesian and expatriate singers led by former “Sing Australia” conductor Brendan O’Donnell. Bali Community Choir entertained and engaged the audience to sing along next to the Coral Universe Exhibit.

Participants also had a chance to experience our coral clay workshop. The 75 participants from kids to adults enjoyed molding the clay while our team spoke about the types of coral that exist. Through this fun activity, participants can make many forms of coral based on their creativity as well as learn more about coral reefs.

To complete this fine evening, CTC also arranged a mini night market named ‘Pasar Senggol’ to provide the participants with local delicacies. There were five stalls from local communities around Sanur that were ready to serve the delights of Indonesian cuisine.
