09 Dec CTC at the 14th CTI-CFF Senior Officials and 7th Ministerial Meeting
CTC joined the delegates of the six member countries of the Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries and Food Security (CTI-CFF) for a week-long meeting, held in Manila, Philippines, from 9-14 December 2018, to take stock of what the multilateral initiative has achieved to protect the world’s epicenter of marine biodiversity under its Regional Plan of Action.
CTC participated in discussions with various working groups such as the Marine Protected Area Working Group, the Seascapes Working Group, the Climate Change Adaptation Working Group, and the Threatened Species Working Group. We led discussions and presented our achievements under the CTI-CFF cross-cutting initiatives such as the Women Leaders Forum and the Local Government Network.
We also supported the CTI-CFF national coordinating committees and joined the discussions on the forthcoming development of the CTI-CFF Regional Plan of Action 2.0 which will chart the initiative’s path from 2020 onwards.
Finally, CTC joined the 7th Ministerial Meeting and witnessed the handover of the CTI-CFF Council of Ministers’ leadership from the Philippines to the Solomon Islands. CTC continues to be a proud partner of CTI-CFF and continues to align its efforts to the initiative’s goals to ensure that coral reefs are protected, sustainable fisheries is promoted for the people and the planet.
