23 Nov Hard Rock Supports Coral Reef Conservation in Bali

On 23 November 2018, the CTC welcomed the team from Hard Rock Hotel Bali at its Center for Marine Conservation in Sanur. Led by Hard Rock Hotel Bali General Manager Shane Coates, the team came for the ceremonial turnover of a donation amounting to Rp 194,726,281. The funds were collected during the hotel’s 18th Rock’N Run annual charity fun run held on 30 September 2018. The cheque was received by CTC Executive Director Rili Djohani and Chairman of CTC’s Board of Trustees George Tahija. The funds will be used for CTC’s marine conservation activities including coral reef protection and rehabilitation in Bali.

Following the turnover ceremony, CTC hosted a Wayang Samudra (Ocean Puppets) performance and a light dinner for its guests, partners, and supporters. CTC’s Wayang Samudra consists of wayang characters modeled after marine life such as the clown fish, mandarin fish and sea turtle. Wayang Samudra performances focus on the unique attributes of each marine animal and shine light on various ocean issues such as overfishing, plastic pollution, among others. Through Wayang Samudra, CTC combines art and storytelling to raise awareness on current ocean issues and marine conservation.
