29 Oct Sylvia Earle and US Embassy Officials Visit CTC Center for Marine Conservation
CTC is honoured to host Her Deepness Sylvia Earle and Mission Blue at CTC’s Center for Marine Conservation to view Semesta Terumbu Karang – Coral Universe up close! We have been and will continue to be inspired by her life’s work and her visit has made a mark in our hearts and spirit.
Sylvia Earle is President and Chairman of Mission Blue / The Sylvia Earle Alliance. Mission Blue is uniting a global coalition to inspire an upwelling of public awareness, access and support for a worldwide network of marine protected areas — Hope Spots. Under Dr. Earle’s leadership, the Mission Blue team implements communications campaigns that elevate Hope Spots to the world stage through documentaries, social media, traditional media and innovative tools like Google Earth. She is a National Geographic Society Explorer in Residence, and is called Her Deepness by the New Yorker and the New York Times, Living Legend by the Library of Congress, and first Hero for the Planet by Time Magazine. She is an oceanographer, explorer, author and lecturer with experience as a field research scientist, government official, and director for several corporate and non-profit organizations.
CTC was also very pleased to host US Ambassador to Indonesia Joseph R. Donovan in our Center for Marine Conservation to view Semesta Terumbu Karang – Coral Universe and underline the collaboration between US-based lead artist Courtney Mattison and Indonesian artists in the making of the monumental ceramic art installation.
