31 Aug Empowering Women Fishers in the Arafura Sea

Ohoi Ngan (Ngan Village) is a remote fishing village in Kei Besar, Maluku Province with 50 households and population of 300 people. Due to its location, the village has limited to access to knowledge and training on fisheries management. In May 2017, SEANET Indonesia began supporting women groups in Ngan Village to turn low value fish catch into high value products.  The project taught the women fish processing, business planning, and marketing. Since then the women, have not looked back and are now on their way to expanding their business, contributing to their family income and lessening their household’s pressure to catch more fish.  Learn more about their inspiring story here: https://youtu.be/pZYtalqYdsw
