08 Jun European Commission and Stimson Center Representatives at CTC’s Center for Marine Conservation

On June 7, 2018, CTC welcomed representatives from the European Commission and the Stimson Center at our Center for Marine Conservation in Sanur to showcase the various learning programs at the facility as well as to discuss how the upcoming Our Ocean Conference which will be held in Bali on October 29-30, 2018.

The representatives included Ramon van Barneveld, International Relations Officer at the Directorate General for Marine Affairs and Fisheries at the European Commission and Sally Yozell, Senior Associate and Director of the Environmental Security program at the Stimson Center. They were accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries led by Brahmantya Satyamurti Poerwadi, Director General for Marine Spatial Management, and Aryo Hanggono Senior Advisor to the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries non Ecology and Marine Resources and Eko Djalmo, Staff to the Minster of Marine Affairs and Fisheries.

While at the Center, the high-ranking officials participated in a discussion on ocean plastic pollution as well as learned about CTC’s art and science projects to spread awareness on ocean issues such as the Coral Wall, the Wayang Samudera, and the Baruna Murthi. They also witnessed a Wayang Samudera performance that highlighted the impact of plastic waste marine life.
