06 Jun University of San Diego Students Go on a Learning Trip to Nusa Penida MPA

On June 4-5, 2018, CTC had the pleasure to host students of the University of San Diego at CTC’s Center for Marine Conservation and the Nusa Penida MPA to share knowledge on developing and maintaining a marine protected area.

On the first day they were given a presentation on how to set up MPA’s and later given exercises on how to design and create zones of an MPA. They were then taken on the field the next day to the Nusa Penida MPA, first visiting the Ped temple located directly across the sacred zone of the MPA, and later to the mangrove forest, as well as a chance to go snorkeling. During their visit, the students and teachers were also given the opportunity to plant mangrove seedlings and tag young corals.
