15 Sep CTC Presents Sustainable Marine Tourism Initiatives at CTI-CFF Regional Exchange and World Conservation Congress
CTC Learning Sites Manager Marthen Welly travelled to Dumaguete, Philippines on September 12-15, 2016 to share CTC’s sustainable tourism initiatives at the 6th Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries and Food Security (CTI-CFF) Marine Protected Area Regional Exchange. During the conference, Marthen presented some of the case study examples from CTC’s sustainable marine tourism related capacity building initiatives such as promoting the code of conduct of marine animal interaction and working with the private sector to promote sustainable tourism in a marine protected area.
The forum also discussed the next steps in establishing the CTI-CFF Sustainable Marine Tourism Task Force, which is an outcome of the CTI-CFF Regional Business Forum held last year. CTC Training and Learning Manager Hesti Widodo also showcased CTC’s sustainable tourism initiatives at the World Conservation Congress organized by IUCN in Hawaiii early this month.
