07 Sep CTC Becomes Part of Mission Blue’s Hope Spots Council

CTC Executive Director Rili Djohani was selected as one of the Regional Adviser of the prestigious Mission Blue “Hope Spots” Council. An initiative led by renowned oceanographer Sylvia Earle, the council is comprised of 14 marine experts who will advise Mission Blue on the declaration and protection of “Hope Spots” or marine areas that need to be protected. It is a unique initiative that brings global communities together to voice their desire for responsible management of the ocean. The Council was launched on September 7, 2016 at the World Conservation Congress in Hawaii.

Mission Blue’s Hope Spots Council will provide opportunities for information sharing, setting the stage for significant conservation outcomes and for securing the necessary funds to increase ocean protection. As part of Mission Blue, CTC will be able to connect with business leaders policy experts, and leading scientists to share unique insights, perspectives an experiences that lead to solutions to the challenges facing the global oceans. It will also enable CTC to collaborate to promote public policies, best practices and enabling conditions for ocean protection.
