Goal 2. Field test and leverage effective marine management practices
Deepen our understanding and practice of marine resource management by collaborating directly in a small number of sites to field test solutions to pressing regional problems. Document effective management practices and develop living laboratories for learning exchanges and training programs in Coral Triangle demonstration sites to leverage practical ideas region wide.
Nusa Penida Marine Park
CTC is supporting the District Government of Klungkung-Bali and local communities in establishing a proposed 19,000 hectare multipurpose MPA to effectively manage the coastal and marine resources of the Penida. The tool of choice is a co-managed MPA, designed for sustainable use by the fishery and marine tourism. This program will involve local stakeholders in the design of a multi-purpose marine protected area around the Penida Islands.
Furthermore, this project will also directly address imminent threats to the coastal and marine ecosystems of the area.
